Iran's MFA: US bears full responsibility for dangerous consequences of blatant ceasefire violation

Tehran - BORNA - The full text of the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the gross violation of the ceasefire by the United States is as follows:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the crimes of the terrorist US regime in its widespread aggression against Iran overnight, and emphasizes that the responsibility for the highly dangerous consequences resulting from this warmongering will rest squarely with the US ruling establishment.

The illegal and criminal attacks by the United States in recent hours are not only a gross violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental rules of international law concerning respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, but have also rendered the ceasefire dated April 8, 2026, practically meaningless.

Furthermore, the continued use by the terrorist US military of the territory and facilities of certain regional countries to prepare and execute aggressive operations against Iran places those nations alongside the aggressors. While emphatically recalling the legal and moral obligation of all countries in the region to prevent the terrorist US military from utilizing their territory, facilities, and resources to commit the crime of aggression against Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes its determination to neutralize the origin and source of aggressive attacks against its soil, in line with exercising its inherent right to legitimate self-defense against the military aggression of the United States and its accomplices.

The Islamic Republic of Iran recalls the collective responsibility of all UN member states to explicitly oppose the flagrant violation of the fundamental principles and objectives of the UN Charter by the United States and the Zionist regime. Undoubtedly, silence and inaction in the face of the lawlessness and bullying of the US and the Zionist regime will drive the world further toward chaos and insecurity.

The Islamic Republic of Iran reminds the UN Security Council and each of its members of their legal duty to fulfill the Council’s responsibility regarding international peace and security. It also emphasizes the legal and moral responsibility of the UN Secretary-General before human conscience and international public opinion to explicitly state the existing realities. Issuing general and ambiguous statements, under circumstances where there is not the slightest doubt about the aggressive nature of the actions of the US and the Zionist regime, cannot be considered a responsible approach. Such ambiguity merely encourages the aggressors to continue their lawlessness and further violate the fundamental principles and rules of the UN Charter and international law."
