Iran MFA Statement on Blatant US Violation of War Termination MOU
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a statement strongly condemning the recent US airstrikes on Iran's southern coasts, characterizing them as a gross violation of international law and the War Termination Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Tehran - BORNA - The text of the statement reads as follows:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the airstrikes carried out by the terrorist US military on the evening of Friday, June 26, 2026, targeting several locations along Iran’s southern coast. These brutal attacks, which targeted Iran's coastal surveillance facilities, constitute a blatant violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter, as well as an explicit violation of Paragraph 1 of the War Termination Memorandum of Understanding dated June 18, 2026.

Simultaneously, the occupying and apartheid Zionist regime, in coordination with the United States, launched an attack on Lebanon, which also constitutes a clear violation of Paragraph 1 of the War Termination Memorandum of Understanding.

While emphasizing Iran's inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserts that the Islamic Republic of Iran will defend its sovereignty, security, and national interests with all its might. The defensive strikes by the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against targets associated with the aggressive US forces were conducted on this very basis. Evidently, the responsibility for the consequences of this situation rests entirely with the aggressive and treaty-breaking US regime and any parties that are complicit in any manner in executing the United States' aggressive actions against Iran.

In this context, the Ministry underscores the necessity for all countries located on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf (PGCC member states) to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness and respect the fundamental principle of international law—namely, preventing aggressive parties from utilizing their territory and facilities to commit acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls upon the United Nations Secretary-General, the Security Council, and other responsible international institutions not to remain indifferent to the gross violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the UN Charter and international law by the United States, and to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities toward regional and international peace and security.
