Iravani: The United States is the aggressor, not the victim

Tehran - BORNA - Amir Saeed Iravani wrote in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council on Tuesday: "The US representative, during the Security Council meeting on the Middle East situation, once again deviated from the agenda and used the Council's podium to spread misinformation, making a series of baseless and politically motivated allegations against Iran."

The letter stated: "Baseless allegations were also made during the Council's briefing on Yemen, reflecting a deliberate pattern of misinformation and abuse of the Security Council process for political purposes. The claim of arms transfers by Iran to Yemen is false and baseless, unsupported by any verifiable or independent evidence, and is another attempt to divert attention from the US's own unlawful and destabilizing actions."

The letter added: "The US bears primary responsibility for undermining peace and security in Yemen and the wider region. Through its aggressive actions against Yemen, the US has derailed the April 2022 ceasefire agreement and brought the UN-facilitated political process to a standstill. The claim that Ansarullah acts on Iran's behalf is completely baseless."

Iravani emphasized: "The US claim of adherence to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is baseless. On the contrary, the US has consistently refused to implement its commitments and has actively and deliberately undermined the memorandum. Iran has documented 42 clear and fundamental US violations in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council."

He stressed: "The United States is the aggressor, not the victim. By launching two unprovoked wars against Iran, the US has committed flagrant violations of the UN Charter, international law, and international humanitarian law. Its deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity. The US has not only failed to end its illegal actions but has continued its aggressive war through repeated military strikes, seriously endangering international peace and security."

Iravani also noted that the US has interfered in Iran's implementation of necessary arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and has used the territory and facilities of Gulf states to prepare its military aggression. "Therefore, the US has no legal, political, or moral standing to accuse Iran or any other member state."
