IRGC Navy Shoots Down US MQ-9 Drone Over Bushehr
Tehran - BORNA - According to a statement released by the IRGC Public Relations, the advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was brought down by the IRGC Navy’s modern defense systems, operating under the command of Iran’s integrated air defense network.
The intercept marks the latest loss for the U.S. drone fleet in the ongoing conflict. According to U.S. officials, Iran has downed more than 30 U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones since the start of the war, repeatedly challenging American operations in environments where the U.S. military previously sought to maintain air dominance.
The MQ-9 Reaper, a centerpiece of U.S. operations across the Middle East since 2007, was originally designed for environments with established air superiority—a capability that continues to face heavy resistance from Iranian air defense networks.
