Iran's Human Rights Headquarters has condemned US airstrikes on the Shahid Beqaei specialized hospital in Ahvaz, a cancer treatment center for children, calling for an immediate halt to US attacks and urging international bodies to break their silence.

Tehran - BORNA - The headquarters issued a statement detailing that on July 15, US airstrikes targeted the hospital, forcing the emergency evacuation of 211 children undergoing chemotherapy.

The statement noted that the attack is part of a broader pattern of US strikes on civilian infrastructure, which has resulted in the closure of eight hospitals and damage to numerous health facilities across Iran since the start of the US-Israeli aggression.

The headquarters said the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, which explicitly prohibits attacks on hospitals and medical centers. It also violates the principle of distinction between civilian and military targets and constitutes a war crime under Article 8 of the Rome Statute.

The headquarters called on the UN Security Council to condemn the attacks and demand an immediate halt to US aggression; the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to document violations and submit an official report; and all human rights bodies and independent countries to condemn the crimes and hold the US accountable.

Any silence or indifference, the statement warned, would be considered complicity in these crimes. The headquarters reaffirmed Iran's determination to pursue legal and international action against the perpetrators.
