Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the Center for Political and International Studies, will attend the 50th anniversary ceremony of the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia as Iran's representative.

Tehran - BORNA - Iran's participation in the event is in line with its policy of expanding cooperation with ASEAN member states, supporting multilateralism, respecting international law, and strengthening regional dialogue.

The treaty is one of the most important regional frameworks for promoting confidence-building, cooperation, and the peaceful settlement of disputes, and Iran emphasizes the continuation of constructive engagement with ASEAN member states.

The Islamic Republic of Iran acceded to the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in 2018. The 50th anniversary ceremony will be held on July 24 in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, with the participation of foreign ministers from ASEAN member states, treaty signatories, and ASEAN dialogue partners. The event will focus on reviewing prospects for regional and international cooperation toward peace, stability, and sustainable development.
