Pakistan Working to Revive Iran-US Negotiations, Foreign Ministry Says

Tehran - BORNA - Tahir Andrabi said during his weekly press conference in Islamabad today: "Pakistan is deeply concerned about the deteriorating security situation in the region and calls on all parties to exercise restraint."

He added: "Pakistan reiterates its demand for the resumption of negotiations, diplomacy, and dialogue to overcome conflicts."

Andrabi announced that Pakistan remains in contact with both Iran and the U.S. to halt hostilities and encourage the parties to return to the memorandum of understanding. However, he emphasized that achieving this requires maximum restraint from all sides.

He noted that Pakistan has been in continuous consultation with regional leaders, aiming to bring the parties back to the technical negotiation process.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that his country by no means wishes to see the ongoing regional war turn into a war of attrition, adding that these hostilities should not drag in other parties.

Addressing claims made by a German media outlet regarding the safety of Pakistan’s strategic assets, including its nuclear security, Andrabi rejected the assertion, stating: "German media must adhere to media ethics and refrain from reckless, baseless storytelling."

Andrabi emphasized: "Pakistan’s strategic command and control system possesses robust security standards, and we are fully confident in our commitments and responsibilities."

Regarding the defense agreement between Kuwait and Pakistan, he clarified: "This agreement is not similar to our strategic defense pact with Saudi Arabia. Rather, it represents a level of defense cooperation signed in 2023, which was recently approved by the Kuwaiti Cabinet."
