Historic stone inscription uncovered at Tehran’s Anoushiravan Dadgar High School

Tehran - BORNA - The first phase of the restoration project began following funding from the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Tehran Province and is currently underway.

Morteza Adibzadeh, deputy for cultural heritage in Tehran Province, highlighted the landmark’s significance, noting that the school is a key early Pahlavi-era structure known for its role in modern education and its notable architectural value. He explained that protective and restoration efforts were initiated to address damage to wooden doors and windows, plaster decorations, and facade coatings that occurred over time.

Adibzadeh announced that during the restoration of the plasterwork on the school’s southern porch, a stone inscription installed in 1326 SH (1947–1948 AD) was identified and uncovered from beneath protective layers.

The official stated that the inscription contains valuable documentation regarding the school's opening in 1315 SH (1936–1937 AD) and the history of its construction.

Cleaning, restoration, and conservation of the newly uncovered inscription are currently being carried out alongside ongoing structural restoration work.
