Iran submits Caspian Sea convention to parliament for ratification

Tehran - BORNA - Baghaei told the government's official news site following the 72nd session of the government's information council that finalizing the document will establish a clear legal framework among littoral states and prevent potential exploitation by extra-regional actors.

"This convention was finalized and signed by the Caspian littoral states in 2018 (1397 SH)," Baghaei explained. "While the other four countries have ratified the document, its entry into force requires ratification by all coastal governments."

Baghaei stated that Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi provided updates during the meeting on current diplomatic and military developments.

The spokesman added that the cabinet approved the bill with single-priority status, noting that discussions with relevant parliamentary committees have been held to ensure swift review and approval.
