Iran to launch first specialized video game university
Tehran - BORNA - Mehdi Basouli, deputy for education at Academic Jihad, said at a press conference that the institution now offers 353 academic programs across 16 short-term training centers nationwide, adding that the approach has shifted from general demand-driven courses to specialized, skill-based training.
Basouli said that the first specialized university for video games will be launched in August, aiming to create a broad network to empower industry professionals and develop specialized training in the field. He noted that about 20 percent of the education sector's resources come from government funding, with the rest generated through dedicated income.
He said more than 13,300 training courses were held in the past year, designed to meet the needs of society and the job market. Cooperation with various government bodies expanded over the past year, with four specialized working groups formed in collaboration with the Health Ministry.
Regarding human resources, Basouli said 1,441 applicants have entered the recruitment process, with 191 cases still under review.
Hamid Saberfarzam, head of the Technology Commercialization and Knowledge-Based Employment Organization, said Academic Jihad has the country's largest innovation and technology network, including three science parks, 24 incubators, 42 innovation centers, and more than 800 knowledge-based companies.
Saberfarzam said over 9,000 parts previously imported for the petrochemical industry were localized last year, with technical blueprints also developed. A new contract is underway to draft a comprehensive self-sufficiency document for the petrochemical industry.
In the defense sector, technology support for defense research was prioritized, with multiple projects carried out in cooperation with knowledge-based companies.
The Academic Jihad's agricultural research center began operations last year, with a memorandum of understanding set to be signed with Isfahan's governorate to establish the country's largest agricultural research center.
The first knowledge-based employment think tank will also begin operations, while the "Mehrabi" national project, launched after the recent war, aims to organize damaged businesses and create neighborhood-based job opportunities.
