Araghchi holds consultations with Saudi, Pakistani officials
Tehran - BORNA - Araghchi on Sunday night engaged in discussions, marking his second round of calls within 24 hours, with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The talks reviewed the latest diplomatic efforts and initiatives to maintain and strengthen regional security and stability. The parties emphasized the necessity of leveraging regional cooperation capacities and political solutions.
According to a statement posted on X by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the Saudi and Iranian ministers discussed the current situation, with Al Saud emphasising Riyadh’s “eagerness to continue the regional rounds in establishing security and stability, in order to achieve the common interests of all the countries and peoples of the region."
On Saturday, Araghchi warned his Saudi counterpart about the ongoing plots and aggressive actions by the United States and the Israeli regime across the region.
He stressed that any aggression or hostile action by the United States or the Israeli regime, or any participation in or support for such measures by regional countries, “would be met with a firm and proportionate response from Iran’s capable Armed Forces.”
In separate conversations the same day with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Araghchi addressed the latest regional developments, including the repercussions of the aggressive and destabilizing actions taken by the United States. He underscored Iran’s full readiness to confront any such miscalculation decisively.
The United States has perpetrated numerous violations against Iranian territory since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire in the latest bout of unprovoked American-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic that began on February 28. These violations continued even after Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, whose first clause clearly mandated cessation of aggression on all fronts.
The US has also sought to help vessels evade the maritime route designated by the Islamic Republic for safe and legal passage through the Strait of Hormuz by attempting to escort trespassing vessels through an illegal passageway.
Iran’s Armed Forces have staged uncompromising retaliation in the face of each instance of violation, including those supporting illegal vessel movement in the strategic waterway.
Iran remains fully committed to defending its rights and sovereignty while prioritizing diplomatic and regional solutions to counter external aggression and ensure lasting stability in West Asia.
