Palestine will never be removed from Iran’s foreign policy priorities, Pezeshkian tells Hamas political chief
Tehran - BORNA - In a telephone conversation with Khalil al-Hayya, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Pezeshkian congratulated him on his appointment to this role, expressing hope that assuming this responsibility with divine grace will serve the Palestinian nation and the resilient people of Gaza, laying the groundwork for their greater dignity and honor.
Commemorating the memory of Palestinian martyrs, particularly on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the President offered his condolences on this loss and, referencing Haniyeh’s martyrdom during his visit to Iran, described the act as a cowardly crime committed by the Zionist regime.
Praising the patience, endurance, and resistance of the Palestinian people in the face of the Zionist regime's crimes, Dr. Pezeshkian emphasized that the hearts and minds of the nation and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran are always alongside the oppressed people of Palestine, and that Iran will support and back the Palestinian nation to the utmost extent possible.
The President also appreciated Khalil al-Hayya's role and management in creating coordination among Palestinian factions, stating: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will support any measures, initiatives, and decisions that Palestinian leaders adopt in the negotiation process."
Pointing to recent aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the broader regional conditions, Dr. Pezeshkian clarified: "Despite these challenges, the issue of Palestine has maintained its pivotal position in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has not been overlooked by the officials, policy-makers, and the Supreme Leader of Iran, and continues to be regarded as the primary issue of the Islamic world."
Wishing health, honor, and victory for the Palestinian nation, Dr. Pezeshkian reiterated the continuation of Iran's support, stating that Iran will spare no effort to assist the Palestinian people. Furthermore, the President called for strengthening unity, cohesion, and alignment among Islamic countries to defend the interests of the Islamic Ummah.
In another part of the conversation, Dr. Pezeshkian requested that his greetings be conveyed to other Palestinian fighters and officials, stating: "The unity and solidarity of Islamic countries can pave the way for truth to triumph over falsehood."
He reiterated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been and will remain a supporter of the oppressed, resilient, and heroic nation of Palestine, and will endeavor through expanded cooperation with Islamic nations to reduce existing differences so that the Islamic Ummah can achieve greater unity and cohesion against its enemies."
During the call, Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas's political bureau, also commemorated the late Ismail Haniyeh, describing his martyrdom in Iran as a symbol of unity in blood, destiny, approach, and shared positions across the Islamic world regarding the Palestinian cause.
Pointing to the coincidence of Dr. Pezeshkian’s presidency beginning around the time of Haniyeh’s martyrdom, the head of Hamas's political bureau praised Iran’s leadership across various junctures and its navigation through sensitive regional circumstances, describing this trajectory as evidence of the government's effective management of regional developments and challenges.
Referring to recent developments in the region and the attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, al-Hayya identified the Zionist regime as the root cause of instability and a threat to regional security, emphasizing that despite American backing, the regime is on a path of decline.
Highlighting Iran’s steadfastness in the face of threats, al-Hayya stated that Iran has successfully established new equations in the region, expressing confidence that Iran will continue to achieve gains that benefit the country, the region, and the broader Islamic world.
Expressing optimism regarding the future of the Axis of Resistance, al-Hayya stressed that the movement across various regional countries will ultimately achieve its objectives and aspirations.
Addressing the ongoing war in Gaza and the situation in the West Bank, Al-Quds, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, al-Hayya expressed appreciation for Iran's continued support, adding that despite ongoing attacks and pressure, the Palestinian people will remain committed to their cause and the blood of their martyrs.
Regarding political negotiations, al-Hayya stated that Hamas is pursuing talks in full coordination and partnership with other Palestinian factions. He affirmed that just as the movement has stood firm on the battlefield, it will not allow the Zionist regime to achieve through diplomacy what it failed to accomplish militarily.
The head of Hamas's political bureau also requested that the experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iranian officials be drawn upon during negotiations to secure the interests of the Palestinian people, hoping that political and diplomatic efforts alongside field resistance will lead to the realization of Palestine’s goals.
Recalling Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, al-Hayya expressed hope that the outcome of this process would culminate in the liberation of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
Concluding the call by honoring the memory of martyred leaders and commanders of the Axis of Resistance, al-Hayya emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among aligned movements, pledging to work toward Islamic unity within the scope of his responsibilities and expressing hope to meet with the Iranian President in the near future.
