Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council and senior commander during the 1980s Iran-Iraq War, warned that American forces and vessels will face severe risks and casualties if current blockades persist, asserting that Tehran will not permit the opening of a secondary maritime passage in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran - BORNA - In a statement published on his official X account on Friday, Rezaei addressed ongoing regional tensions and maritime enforcement actions in the strategic waterway.

"If the blockade continues, American ships and forces will face serious risks and casualties," Rezaei wrote. "The United States must change its behavior, otherwise we will not tolerate this situation."

Rezaei firmly added: "We will never allow the opening of a second corridor in the Strait of Hormuz."
