Any country that assists the United States in conducting a military strike against Iran will be targeted by Iranian missiles, the Vice Speaker of the Iranian Parliament warned during a Sunday session.

Tehran - BORNA - In his pre-agenda address during an online parliamentary session on Sunday, August 9, Hamid-Reza Hajibabaei stated that while Iran works toward unity among Islamic and regional nations, it will not hesitate to respond forcefully to any state facilitating foreign aggression against its territory.

Addressing the Arbaeen pilgrimage and offering condolences over the deaths of Iranian advisors and civilians in a recent attack on Iraq's Nineveh province, Hajibabaei characterized the strike as an attempt by foreign powers to disrupt the religious event and undermine regional solidarity.

Strategic sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz

Hajibabaei highlighted the global importance of the Strait of Hormuz, describing the waterway's management as central to Iran's international standing.

"Iran's authority and superpower status are defined through this critical international strait," Hajibabaei said. "The absolute will of the Iranian nation is that the sovereignty and management of the Islamic Republic over the strait remain definitive. Any plan or statement that infringes upon Iran's management and sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz will not be accepted."

He added that Parliament is working to draft and pass legislation clarifying Iran's sovereign rights over the waterway, noting that various parliamentary committees are synthesizing multiple proposals to establish a comprehensive legal consensus.

Position on U.S. diplomacy and regional defense pacts

The vice speaker reiterated that formal negotiations with the United States are not taking place, emphasizing that ongoing technical discussions with Oman must remain free from U.S. interference.

Commenting on regional security architectures, Hajibabaei stated that defense agreements formed to counter U.S. and Israeli influence gain popular support, whereas treaties that serve American or Israeli interests will only escalate regional conflict.

He warned that Iranian armed forces will not allow any regional territory to be utilized for military actions against the country, affirming that Iran remains fully prepared to defend its national interests.
