Iranian civil commission approves general framework of strategic Strait of Hormuz bill

Tehran - BORNA - Abduljalal Eiri, spokesman for the Civil Commission of the Iranian Parliament, detailed the outcome of the Sunday session, stating that the committee reviewed the draft legislation titled "Strategic Action Plan for Securing and Advancing the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf" in its capacity as a secondary committee.

"Representatives and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Ports and Maritime Organization, Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters, and other relevant state bodies attended the meeting," Eiri said. He added that following expert discussions, committee members voted to pass the general principles of the bill.

Review process and upcoming parliamentary procedures

Eiri noted that detailed provisions and articles of the proposed plan will undergo evaluation in upcoming committee meetings alongside inter-agency officials before being sent to the main floor of Parliament for a final vote.

The decision follows an earlier announcement by Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee—the primary committee handling the bill—who confirmed on Sunday that the general framework of the strategic plan was approved without a single dissenting vote.
