Iran's junior Greco-Roman wrestling team departs for World Championships in Slovakia

Tehran - BORNA - The team roster includes Armin Shamsipour at 55 kg, Amirali Heidari at 60 kg, Ali Gharibi at 63 kg, Ilia Alikhani at 67 kg, Ahmadreza Mohammadian at 72 kg, Amir-Mehdi Saeedi-Nava at 77 kg, Alireza Mohammad-Hosseini at 82 kg, Amir-Hossein Nematzadeh at 87 kg, Amir-Sam Mohammadi at 97 kg, and Amir-Hossein Abdevali at 130 kg.

The team is led by Head Coach Hamid Bavafa, alongside coaches Mehrzad Esfandiari-Far, Rouhollah Delangiz, Tayyeb Heidari, Iraj Norouzi, and Mehdi Alizadeh. Massagist Seyed Farshid Farzan and international referee Saeed Abbasi also accompany the delegation.

The tournament schedule begins Saturday, August 15, with the official draw for all weight categories held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. local time.

On Sunday, August 16, preliminary matches for the 63 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, and 130 kg categories will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by the semifinals from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

On Monday, August 17, repechage matches for the first four weight classes and preliminary rounds for the 55 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, and 97 kg weight categories will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by semifinals for the new weight classes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and finals and medal matches for the day-one categories from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, August 18, repechage bouts for the day-two weights and preliminary matches for the 60 kg and 82 kg categories will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with semifinals set for 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and medal matches for the day-two categories taking place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Greco-Roman competition concludes on Wednesday, August 19, with repechage matches for the 60 kg and 82 kg weight classes running from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by finals and medal bouts from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
