Iran rejects US claims of normal traffic in Strait of Hormuz, asserts full control

Tehran - BORNA -  Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari issued a formal statement outlining the headquarters' position regarding maritime security in the region.

"U.S. claims regarding normal vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz are completely false and reflect the desperation of its military," Zolfaghari stated in the message.

The spokesman declared that the Strait of Hormuz remains under the full management and control of the Islamic Republic of Iran, asserting that secure passage for commercial vessels and tankers depends on permission and monitoring by Iranian military forces.

Zolfaghari stated that U.S. leaders and military forces have repeatedly tested the resolve and military capabilities of Iran's armed forces, adding that ungrounded threats will not diminish the readiness of Iranian troops.

He added that Iran's armed forces closely monitor all movements by U.S. and Israeli forces across the region under the command of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Concluding the statement, Zolfaghari affirmed that Iran will not hesitate to defend its national sovereignty and interests, warning that any threat will be met with a decisive response.
