Iranian lifters dominate Asian Youth and Junior Championships with world records and medal haul
Tehran - BORNA - Hamidreza Zarei delivered a dominant performance in the junior 95 kg category, sweeping all three gold medals and setting a new world record in the clean and jerk.
Zarei successfully lifted 155 kg, 162 kg, and 164 kg in the snatch to claim his first gold medal. In the clean and jerk, he succeeded at 200 kg and 206 kg before breaking the world record with a 214 kg lift on his final attempt. He secured his third gold medal with a total of 378 kg to claim the Asian junior title.
In the youth +95 kg division, Taha Nojavani set multiple Asian and world records en route to sweeping three gold medals. Nojavani lifted 165 kg, 170 kg, and 176 kg in the snatch to take gold while establishing new youth Asian and world marks. He added gold in the clean and jerk with a 215 kg lift, setting new world records in both the clean and jerk and total with a 391 kg tally.
In the same weight class, Pourya Abbaspourian earned three silver medals for Iran, lifting 175 kg in the snatch and 206 kg in the clean and jerk to finish with a 381 kg total.
Iran's female lifters also achieved notable success in the 77 kg category. Anahita Zarei won youth gold in the clean and jerk (126 kg) and total (218 kg), alongside a youth snatch bronze (92 kg) and a junior clean and jerk silver. Meanwhile, Nasim Ghasemi secured youth snatch gold (91 kg) along with silver medals in both the clean and jerk (117 kg) and total.
