Iran’s girls' youth weightlifting team secured a historic second-place finish at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, marking the nation's first-ever Asian runner-up trophy in the division.

Tehran - BORNA - The Iranian girls' youth squad earned 534 points in a close team race to claim the runner-up title. Kazakhstan won the championship with 551 points, while host nation Uzbekistan finished third with 514 points.

The Iranian girls' youth team concluded the continental tournament with six gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

In the boys' youth division, Iran also finished as Asian runners-up behind host nation Uzbekistan.

Despite competing with one fewer athlete, the Iranian boys' team amassed 530 points to secure second place. Uzbekistan took the top spot with 553 points, while Kazakhstan finished third with 506 points.

The Iranian boys' youth squad captured a total of nine gold, four silver, and two bronze medals during the competition.
