Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, rejected recent remarks by US President Donald Trump and said the Strait of Hormuz has been and will remain Iranian, stressing that the strategic waterway will be managed only under arrangements determined by the Islamic Republic.

Tehran - BORNA - In an interview with Al Mayadeen, Mokhber dismissed Trump’s remarks regarding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

“Trump is fantasizing. The Strait of Hormuz has been Iranian and will remain Iranian,” Mokhber said.

He referred to existing legislation in the Iranian Parliament as well as decisions to be made by the Leader concerning the Strait.

“We have a law that is before the Islamic Consultative Assembly, as well as a decision that the Leader will make regarding the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

Mokhber stressed that the waterway “will be managed only according to the arrangements of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Addressing Trump’s remarks about bombing Iran, Mokhber described them as “illogical and ineffective.”

“His remarks are futile and have no impact,” he said.

Mokhber also stressed Iran’s readiness to defend itself while reiterating that Tehran does not seek war.

“We are fully prepared. We do not seek war, but we are always ready to defend the country,” he said.
