Iran sweep Cuba for first win at Ufa volleyball tournament
Iran’s national men’s volleyball team defeated Cuba in straight sets in its second match at the four-team Ufa tournament in Russia.
Tehran - BORNA - Iran faced Cuba on Saturday and secured its first victory of the competition with a 3-0 win.
Head coach Roberto Piazza started with Arshia Behnejad, Amin Esmaeilnezhad, Morteza Sharifi, Ali Haghparast, Nima Bateni, Seyed Issa Nasseri and Mohammadreza Hazratpour.
Iran controlled the match throughout, winning the three sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-22.
The Iranian team had lost its opening match to Russia 3-1.
Russia, which had been suspended from international volleyball competitions since 2022 following its invasion of Ukraine, officially returned to international volleyball on Friday.
