Iran’s Rahmani wins silver at U20 World Wrestling Championships
Iran’s Abolfazl Rahmani claimed the silver medal in the 92kg freestyle category at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Slovakia.
Tehran - BORNA - In the final, Rahmani faced Georgia’s Sandro Kurashvili and lost 5-2 to finish runner-up.
Rahmani had received a bye in the opening round before defeating Japan’s Hisashi Konishi 12-2 by technical superiority. He then beat Belgium’s Alan Sagarayev 11-0, also by technical superiority.
In the semifinals, the Iranian wrestler defeated Romania’s Adrian Sas 11-0 to advance to the final.
Iran’s three other representatives in the second group of four weight categories — Arman Elahi, Ali Asghar Tat and Sobhan Esmi — were eliminated after losing to their respective opponents.
