Araghchi: US has no choice but to speak to Iran with respect
Tehran - BORNA - Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony in which President Masoud Pezeshkian and members of his cabinet renewed their allegiance to the ideals of Imam Khomeini, Araghchi was asked whether Iran was afraid of the economic blockade and threats.
“We have never been afraid,” he said. “All of their moves, whether the blockade or the other military actions they have taken, have failed. This new initiative of theirs will fail as well.”
Araghchi said the “economic operation” touted by US President Donald Trump was a repetition of previous scenarios and reflected what he described as the same longstanding bullying in US policy.
“In a sense, this is a rerun of a movie we have watched many times before, and we know how to confront and deal with it,” he said.
Araghchi added that Washington’s return from military action to what he called its old plans was itself a sign of desperation.
“The fact that they have moved from military operations back to the same old schemes shows their desperation,” he said.
“They cannot come up with a solution in the face of the great Iranian nation and constantly bring the same repetitive plans back onto the stage.”
“They must know that there is no way forward other than speaking to the Iranian people with respect and pursuing a solution based on justice and dignity,” Araghchi concluded.
