Iranian-Japanese wrestler Aria Yoshida wins U20 world title with last-second comeback

Tehran - BORNA - Representing Japan, Yoshida faced Jaden James of the United States in the final and trailed 12-11 going into the closing seconds of an action-packed bout.

Yoshida scored two points in the final second to turn the match around and secure a 13-12 victory and the world junior title.

Aria Yoshida is the son of Iranian wrestling coach Javad Esfanjani and the brother of Arash Yoshida, a world bronze medalist and three-time Asian champion who is considered one of the leading contenders for the 97kg world title this year.

Earlier, Keyvan Gharadaghi, another Iranian-Japanese wrestler representing Japan, won the silver medal in the 79kg category at the U20 World Championships.
