Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are due to arrive in Tehran on Monday for talks with senior Iranian officials on bilateral cooperation, border security and regional developments.

Tehran - BORNA - Munir left Islamabad for Tehran earlier in the day at the head of a high-level military and security delegation, accompanied by Naqvi.

The visit is aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, strengthening security along the two countries’ shared border and reviewing the latest regional developments.

The Pakistani officials’ visit comes as Tehran is also preparing to host Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Albusaidi is scheduled to visit Tehran on Tuesday and meet Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi for talks on bilateral and regional issues.

Baghaei said the visit is intended to strengthen Iran-Oman cooperation and continue regular political consultations between the two countries, which border the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the consultations are aimed at contributing to peace and security in the region.
