Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has parodied Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan with the phrase “Make America Hungry Again.”

Tehran - BORNA - Ghalibaf’s response came after the U.S. president reposted on his social media platform a version of the Iranian official’s remarks that Ghalibaf said had been selectively edited and fabricated.

In response, Ghalibaf posted “Make America Hungry Again” and shared a graphic highlighting hunger and food insecurity in the United States.

The graphic cited figures that it said were drawn from official reports by international organizations and reputable U.S. institutions:

“Forty-seven million people are affected by hunger and food insecurity across the United States.

“One in every eight Americans goes to bed on an empty stomach.

“Sixteen million American children have fallen victim to systemic poverty and the cost-of-living crisis, while hunger remains a problem in every American city.”

Addressing Trump in the graphic, Ghalibaf wrote:

“These figures are not fake like your bluffs and fake news. You cannot cover up your defeats against Iran with lies.”
