Rezaei: US will have no place in region’s future

Tehran - BORNA - Rezaei made the remarks during a meeting with Faiq Zidan, president of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, where he emphasized that the Islamic Republic seeks a strong and independent Iraq.

“Regional countries themselves will decide their future, and the United States will have no place in the region’s future,” Rezaei said.

He also stressed the need to resolve the status of anti-Iranian groups based along the two countries’ borders.

Zidan, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iran’s support and conveyed greetings from Iraqi officials to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The senior Iraqi official also paid tribute to late Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Zidan further emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and the need to ensure security along the shared border between Iran and Iraq.
