Baghaei warns silence over US bullying threatens all countries’ sovereignty
Tehran - BORNA - In a post on X about the latest US measure against Iran, Baghaei wrote: “The United States has announced that Iran’s economic day of reckoning has arrived. Those who prefer to appear as unquestioning followers of this unlawful measure may say: ‘That’s fine.’ But wait. It is not fine at all.”
Baghaei said the issue goes beyond Iran when Washington declares that “all banks, businesses, ports, airports and governments must choose between obeying Washington’s whims or facing US retaliation.”
“This amounts to a threat against the most fundamental rules of international law and the UN Charter, namely respect for the sovereign equality of states and the right of peoples to self-determination,” he added.
The Iranian spokesperson said no government that values its sovereignty and national interests should accept the normalization of what he described as large-scale lawlessness and systematic bullying.
“Canada, of course, is among the countries that is gradually beginning to experience the reality of US bullying under the guise of negotiations,” Baghaei said.
