Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed that his administration's approach is to reach understanding and resolve issues through engagement and negotiation, while asserting that the United States will fail to achieve its goals through economic pressure, just as it failed in war.

Tehran - BORNA - Pezeshkian made the remarks during a visit to the Central Bank of Iran on Saturday evening, where he reviewed the latest monetary, foreign exchange, and financial indicators and was briefed on the institution's decision-making processes.

Pointing to the special circumstances created by war, economic siege, and foreign pressures, the president emphasized the need for sustained economic stability and curbing inflation expectations, saying, "Managing key markets, particularly the foreign exchange and money markets, under such conditions requires full coordination and synergy among the monetary policymaking body, the government, and other economic pillars of the country."

Welcoming the economic ideas and proposals put forward during the meeting, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of supporting and utilizing expert opinions from economists and called for these sessions to be held regularly, with the proposed ideas in monetary, foreign exchange, and banking areas put into practice.

He described the use of constructive ideas from academic elites as essential, saying the government benefits from the capacity of academics and university professors in various projects and issues. "One of these important areas is the economy, where professors and economic experts need to provide the necessary consultations to the government's economic team," he said.

The president also underscored the need for transparent and honest dialogue with the public, saying that economic issues must be clearly explained. "Opinions and analyses on economic matters in the media should be presented by experts and specialists in the field to help properly manage public opinion," Pezeshkian noted.

Expressing gratitude to public and private sectors that continue to work despite difficulties in what he called the "economic jihad" to meet people's livelihood needs and stabilize markets, the president said, "Our approach is understanding and resolving issues through engagement and negotiation. At the same time, we have stood and will continue to stand firm against economic pressures."

"With the measures prepared by the government's economic sectors, the United States—just as it failed to achieve anything in war thanks to the bravery of the Armed Forces and the support of the people—will get nowhere with economic pressure in this phase either," he added.

The three-hour meeting at the Central Bank came in the wake of the US announcement of an economic pressure campaign against Iran. During the session, economists presented views and proposals on countering trade barriers, managing the new economic conditions, fiscal and budgetary policies, monetary and foreign exchange policies, trade and economic relations, corporate management, and other related issues.

Reports were also presented on the foreign exchange market situation, liquidity volume, the international balance of payments, monetary regulatory strategies, and operational measures for steering the country's economy during wartime and its aftermath. The president directly assessed the policymaking process and implementation of economic programs for market control and monitoring people's livelihoods, examining their strengths and weaknesses.
