Ghalibaf: Enemy will fail in all-out economic war
Tehran - BORNA - Ghalibaf made the remarks in a message marking Government Week, warning that internal division and the erosion of national capabilities are precisely what Iran’s adversaries seek.
“Government Week is not merely an occasion on the calendar of the Islamic Republic, but a reminder of the great commitment to serving a nation that has stood firm in the most difficult arenas and has steadfastly defended the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the independence of our beloved Iran,” he said.
He said Government Week is associated with the names of late officials Mohammad Ali Rajaei, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, describing them as figures who regarded government not as a platform for power but as a position of service.
Ghalibaf said that under the current circumstances, the government must prioritize people’s livelihoods, purchasing power, youth employment and economic security, while also safeguarding the Islamic Republic.
He referred to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s calls for supporting the government, preserving unity and strengthening cooperation among state institutions, saying these provide a roadmap for overcoming current challenges.
“Supporting the government does not mean overlooking weaknesses; rather, it means trusting the government so that it can serve the people more effectively,” he said.
Ghalibaf added that the war has affected Iran’s economy and that the country’s adversaries have mobilized all of their capacities to exert pressure on the Iranian people. He said executive officials have nevertheless made effective efforts to administer the country and address existing shortcomings.
He stressed that national unity, cohesion and public trust in officials remain the most important sources of support for overcoming challenges.
“The country is engaged in an all-out economic war, and, God willing, we will see the government and executive bodies, relying on the capabilities of the people, private-sector economic actors and all institutions of the country, defeat the enemy in this arena as well,” Ghalibaf said.
He added that what he described as the enemy’s psychological operations surrounding the economic war would soon lose credibility.
The parliament speaker said civil servants, government managers, governors, local officials and economic policymakers should regard their positions as part of the country’s defense effort under wartime economic conditions.
“Proper, swift and sincere service to the people is part of national defense,” he said.
Ghalibaf said Parliament also considers itself alongside the government and at the service of the people, pledging to use its legislative and oversight powers to remove obstacles, reform laws and follow up on public demands.
He concluded by congratulating government officials, particularly President Masoud Pezeshkian, on Government Week and wishing them continued success in serving the Iranian people.
