Pezeshkian: Iran’s international approach has always been peaceful
Tehran - BORNA - Pezeshkian made the remarks on Wednesday during a farewell ceremony for Iran’s new ambassadors to South Korea, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Singapore.
He said expanding engagement and political relations with all countries is among the government’s key priorities and an important mission for Iranian ambassadors abroad.
Pezeshkian stressed the need for sustained efforts to broaden scientific, economic and political cooperation.
“The most important duty of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ambassadors abroad is to create the appropriate groundwork for improving bilateral cooperation and effective communication in order to expand relations, establish security and promote lasting peace,” he said.
The president also called on the ambassadors to work to remove obstacles to stronger bilateral relations and pave the way for further cooperation.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s foreign interactions and cooperation should be developed on the basis of mutual interests and win-win principles.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s approach in the international arena has always been peaceful and based on engagement, and our ambassadors should properly explain this approach to people around the world,” he said.
“No country’s interests will be secured through excessive demands. Conditions should instead be created in which both countries can benefit from shared interests through interaction.”
Pezeshkian also referred to lessons from Islamic history, saying that long-standing conflicts between the Aws and Khazraj tribes gradually diminished after the Prophet Muhammad created a framework for unity and cooperation.
Addressing the newly appointed ambassadors, he called on them to act as messengers of peace, cohesion, unity and calm in line with the 14th administration’s policy of strengthening friendly ties and expanding cooperation with other countries.
During the ceremony, the five ambassadors also briefed the president on opportunities and capacities for expanding relations with their respective host countries.
Ahmad Erfanian, Iran’s ambassador to South Korea; Mohsen Omid Zamani, ambassador to Belarus; Saadollah Masoudian, ambassador to the Czech Republic; Mahmoud Safari, ambassador to Kazakhstan; and Ahmad Safari, ambassador to Singapore, highlighted opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
