Ex-Trump counterterrorism adviser claims US could strike Iran with nuclear weapons

Speaking to podcaster Tucker Carlson, Kent said Trump has since repeated similar threats, saying US forces could destroy Iran's civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.

Describing the nuclear option as realistic, Kent claimed: "We would be fools to think that couldn't happen here, in this current scenario, especially with the Trump administration trying to find a way out."

He noted that despite deploying the full range of US military and economic capabilities, Trump has consistently failed to achieve any of his constantly shifting objectives in the standoff with Iran.

According to Kent, if Washington remains determined to remove the Iranian government from power and force its "complete surrender," only two options remain open to Trump: a full-scale ground operation or a nuclear strike.

Kent told Carlson the first option is entirely impractical given Iran's size and large population: "If you run that scenario out long enough, you know, you get to weapons of mass destruction pretty quickly."

He speculated that Washington could hypothetically opt for a limited nuclear strike on underground uranium enrichment facilities hidden in Iran's mountainous regions.
