Iranian taekwondo fighter Saghar Moradi secured the gold medal in the women’s -67kg weight division at the World Taekwondo Open in China, while Olympic silver medalist Nahid Kiani made an early exit in the -57kg category.

Tehran - BORNA -Moradi delivered a dominant performance in the -67kg division, defeating opponents from Russia, China, the United States, and Croatia to reach the semifinals. She went on to defeat Serbia’s Aleksandra Perisic, an Olympic silver medalist, 2-0 to advance to the final.

In the championship bout, Moradi defeated Greece’s Marentaki in two straight rounds to claim the gold medal without dropping a single round throughout the tournament.

In the -57kg category, Kiani—a World champion and Olympic silver medalist—was eliminated in her opening match after losing 2-0 in straight rounds to Makayla Greenwood of the United States.

Hasti Mohammadi, Iran’s other representative in the -57kg division, defeated her first opponent from Comoros before losing in straight rounds to China’s Zhang in her second match, ending her campaign at the tournament.
