SCO summit adopts package of cooperation documents with Iran's president in attendance
Tehran - BORNA - According to the list of documents presented at the summit, the "Bishkek Declaration marking the 25th anniversary of the SCO" was among the texts adopted. Also on the agenda were the "Protocol on amendments and additions to the SCO Charter," along with decisions approving regulations for the organization's comprehensive center for countering security challenges and threats among member states, and regulations for the executive committee of the Anti-Narcotics Center.
Other documents and decisions included: a decision on providing translation services for the organization's activities; a program for member-state cooperation on combating drug addiction through 2030; a program to coordinate action against the spread of synthetic drugs and precursors through 2030; and an action plan for developing ports and logistics centers for 2026-2030.
The list also included a decision approving an initiative on biodiversity conservation and sustainable management along with a joint action plan for 2026-2031; a concept for establishing regional data-processing and computing centers and advancing artificial intelligence development; and a cooperation program for building a "green technology corridor" for 2026-2030.
Additional data-x-items on the list included the designation of Lahore, Pakistan, as the SCO's tourism and cultural capital for 2026-2027; a decision on signing a memorandum of understanding between the organization's secretariat and the African Union Commission; a program for member-state cooperation on international information security; and amendments to the regulations governing the honorary title of "Goodwill Ambassador."
The list also included decisions approving the annual reports of the SCO secretary-general and the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Council, as well as a decision on the expiration of previous decisions by the Council of Heads of State.
Alongside these documents, statements were also presented on strengthening multilateral cooperation on nuclear security and physical nuclear security, expanding cooperation on energy conservation and efficiency, developing cooperation on energy systems, and supporting and strengthening the family as an institution. These statements were explicitly listed as "unsigned" in the document list.
Other documents and statements on the summit's list included a "statement on providing assistance to states affected by emergency situations," a "memorandum of understanding on cooperation in combating climate change," a "memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the information sphere" between relevant agencies, and a "memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence."
