Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the latest wave of US coercive measures against Iran is directed not only at Tehran but also at the international community, the UN Charter and free trade.

Tehran - BORNA -  Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Baghaei marked Sept. 7, designated as Sistan and Baluchestan Day, and highlighted the province’s geographical, historical, civilizational and cultural significance.

He also commemorated those killed in the recent US attacks on southern Iran, including children, and once again strongly condemned the attacks.

Referring to the US economic war against Iran, Baghaei said: “The new wave of US coercive measures against Iran is not directed only against Iran; it is directed against the entire international community, the United Nations Charter and free trade.”

Baghaei also referred to the continued Israeli attacks against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, saying the assaults have continued without interruption.

“The international community must understand that we are not merely talking about numbers of people killed as a result of these attacks. They were human beings like everyone else,” he said.

“What we are witnessing is a widespread violation of human rights, and the international community’s silence in the face of these killings is in no way acceptable,” Baghaei added.
