Basij chief: Iranian nation's resistance brought US, Israel 'to their knees'

Tehran - BORNA - Hojjatoleslam val-Moslemin Hossein Taeb, head of the Basij Organization of the Oppressed, speaking at a ceremony honoring and introducing the head of the country's Basij Professors Organization, said that "the pace of developments has outpaced predictions."

He stated: "At the beginning of the 21st century, Americans believed that on the 250th anniversary of their independence, they could celebrate America's leadership and management of the global communications village. But from 2020 onward, conditions progressed in such a way that despite putting a hybrid war on their agenda, they were pushed toward conventional military war. Trump, too, criticizing past approaches, was ultimately forced to follow a path that would determine the fate of the 21st century through war."

Referring to extensive US and European investment in science and technology, Taeb said: "One of the values raised in the US Declaration of Independence about 250 years ago was science. Americans sought to monopolize scientific knowledge and make other countries scientifically dependent, and through this scientific dominance, to control global wealth production as well."

Taeb said: "Americans and Europeans established dominance in the scientific arena globally, but internal developments in the US and the divisions created within the country forced them to change their strategy and turn to military power to resolve their challenges in the world."

Zionist regime's war machine backed by money and advanced weapons

Hojjatoleslam val-Moslemin Taeb, referring to the recent war in the region, stated: "The Americans deployed all their capabilities to the region and backed the Zionist regime's war machine with money and the most advanced weapons. Dozens of transport aircraft were used daily to transfer bombs, missiles and equipment, and a significant portion of US operational capability was also deployed to the region."

He continued: "They believed they had to conquer West Asia and could not achieve their goals without conquering Iran; so they brought their war machine to the field and subsequently brought their warships to the region, but in the end they were forced to raise the ceasefire flag and accept defeat."

US military's aura shattered in this war

The head of the Basij Organization said "the aura of the US military was shattered in this war," adding: "An army that targets schools and wedding ceremonies is not a superpower's army, but a criminal and child-killing army, and today the whole world sees this reality."

Hojjatoleslam val-Moslemin Taeb, referring to the US military's heavy costs, stated: "The people of the world saw how an army with an annual budget of about one trillion dollars faced serious challenges against an armed force with a much more limited defense budget. Americans claim they targeted Iran's navy and air force and destroyed the country's armed forces' capabilities. But if that claim is true, why are they still fighting and trying to gain control of the Strait of Hormuz? They must answer to their own people and global public opinion about this contradiction. Today, more than 60 percent of Americans in opinion polls acknowledge that the war with Iran has brought no value to America."

The link between scientific power and the country's defense power

Taeb identified the main factor behind this defeat as the steadfastness of the Iranian nation and the link between scientific power and the country's defense power, saying: "The university connected with the defense industry. Indigenous missiles were designed, indigenous drones reached production, ground defense industries were developed, and in the naval arena, vessels were built that have been able to disrupt the enemy's operational order."

The head of the Basij Organization noted: "If today we have precision-guided missiles, drones and defense vessels, it is the result of this connection. The university stepped up, professors entered the field and strengthened industry, and the result was an increase in the country's defense power and the enemy's defeat in the field."

Stating that "today the Iranian nation has become a nation on a mission, and the university is also a university on a mission," he said: "Based on the Supreme Leader's decree, every Iranian is a Basiji, and this approach must be realized in the university as well. Today, a united front has been formed in the university with the defense of the homeland at its core, and this commonality must be transformed into an organized and effective movement."

The head of the Basij Organization said: "This approach must lead to changes in the methods and goals of the Basij Professors Organization. In the post-victory period, it must enter the field as a pioneer in the country's progress, and through interaction with various bodies, the country's administration, and representatives of the Supreme Leader, pave the way for scientific progress in various fields."

Hojjatoleslam val-Moslemin Taeb continued: "If we want to create a good life for the people, we must move through science and scientific growth. The country's independence was preserved through military defense, territorial integrity was maintained, and Iranian identity rose in the world, but now we must shape and accelerate the system's effectiveness."

He described scientific progress and the improvement of governance rules as prerequisites for achieving this effectiveness, adding: "Improving governance rules and scientific progress is the work of the university, and the Basij Professors Organization must be at the forefront in this arena."

The head of the Basij Organization added: "In the new era, anyone whose heart beats for the defense of the homeland must enter this arena, and with God's grace, this year's entry into the university should be accompanied by a celebration of victory against global arrogance, the US and the Zionist regime. The process of knowledge production and nurturing scholars in the university must be pursued with greater speed by utilizing the capacity of all professors."
