Apple unveils foldable iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, and new line of devices at annual event
Tehran - BORNA - Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, features a 7.6-inch Retina inner display when unfolded and a 5.4-inch outer cover screen. Inspired by the versatility of the iPad, the device incorporates an under-display camera on the internal screen to deliver an uninterrupted full-screen experience.
The company stated that the iPhone Duo provides up to 31 hours of video playback on its internal display and up to 44 hours on the external screen. The camera system consists of a 48-megapixel main Fusion camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with 2x optical zoom, allowing users to capture high-quality selfies using the rear camera with live previews on the outer screen. Its hinge is constructed from grade-5 aluminum and titanium components, housing over 100 custom-engineered parts designed for smooth folding mechanics.
The base 256GB model starts at $1,999 and will be available in two colors. Pre-orders begin October 16, with store availability scheduled for October 23.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro series retains the industrial design of previous models while delivering major camera hardware enhancements.
The primary camera features a 48-megapixel variable aperture sensor controlled by six thin blades, designed to improve low-light photography and capture speeds. Updated camera software adds manual controls for white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and histograms, alongside customizable Photographic Styles. The devices also support 4K video recording in Dolby Vision HDR with post-capture cinematic editing capabilities.
Pricing starts at $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max—reflecting a $100 price increase over last year’s models. Pre-orders open Saturday, with general availability beginning September 18.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4
Apple's smartwatch lineup—comprising the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4—maintains existing hardware designs while incorporating software updates focused on accessibility and artificial intelligence.
A new Sound Recognition feature alerts users with hearing impairments to critical ambient sounds, including sirens, alarms, doorbells, and crying babies. Additionally, new Audio Intelligence features include "Live Rewind"—which displays a text transcript of the preceding 15 seconds of a conversation—and "Siri Recap," designed to summarize key points from meetings and daily discussions.
The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399, while the Apple Watch Ultra 4 is priced at $499. Pre-orders are live, with store arrival scheduled for September 18.
AirPods 5
The fifth-generation AirPods feature upgrades in audio quality, active noise cancellation (ANC), and Siri intelligence integration.
Apple reports that the AirPods 5 reduce background noise by 50 percent compared to their predecessor and now feature stem touch controls previously restricted to the AirPods Pro series. The Transparency mode has also been updated for more natural ambient sound passthrough.
The ANC version delivers up to five hours of listening time on a single charge and up to 22 hours with the charging case. The base model is priced at $129, while the wireless charging case variant costs $149. Deliveries begin September 18.
Redesigned Apple Health App
Apple also previewed a redesigned Apple Health application that uses on-device artificial intelligence to analyze user wellness metrics.
The update introduces an "Insights" tab with personalized summaries, fitness scores, and an estimated health age calculation. A "Longevity" tab evaluates overall health metrics across sleep patterns, physical activity, and heart health.
The updated health software will roll out later this year in US English.
