Iran's Defense Ministry chief: Iran's defense power is the product of successive generations

Tehran - BORNA - "Today, the defense power of the Islamic Republic of Iran is not the product of one period or one limited group; it is the product of years of sacrifice, knowledge, experience and the efforts of successive generations of the children of this land," Sardar Brigadier General Ibn al-Reza said in a message marking Sacred Defense Week.

He said the eight-year Sacred Defense was "not merely a historical period of the Iranian nation's resistance, but a great school of experience, self-belief, sacrifice and responsibility" whose achievements have charted the country's defense path for subsequent generations.

"Today, too, the Iranian nation and the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, drawing on this valuable experience, have once again proven — in the face of the recent imposed wars — the necessity of safeguarding national security and interests and the importance of continuous readiness to defend the country," he said.

Ibn al-Reza said the common thread across these periods is the Iranian nation's will to preserve the country and stand against any encroachment on its independence and territorial integrity, "an will that has been passed from one generation to the next and today continues in the form of the country's indigenous scientific, technological and defense capabilities."

He described one of the most important legacies of the Sacred Defense as the belief in turning threats into opportunities to build indigenous capabilities and achieve defense self-sufficiency.

"The country's defense industry, relying on the capacity of Iranian youth, scientists, specialists and elites, has used field experience to develop technology, upgrade capabilities and respond to the country's defense needs, and this path will continue seriously," he said.

Reference to 'martyred' Supreme Leader

In the closing section of the message, Ibn al-Reza honored the martyrs of the Sacred Defense and "the recent imposed wars, particularly our martyred commander and leader, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei (may God sanctify his soul)."

'Security is the product of the nation's will'

The defense minister said the armed forces, alongside the Iranian nation and under the command of the Commander-in-Chief, are pursuing the path of safeguarding the country's independence, security and territorial integrity with full vigilance and readiness.

"The Ministry of Defense considers itself obligated to provide a solid backing for this path by strengthening the scientific, industrial and technological defense infrastructure," he said.

"Sacred Defense Week reminds us of an enduring truth: the country's security and authority are the product of the nation's allegiance to the Guardianship, faith, unity, knowledge, readiness and will — a nation that is always ready to stand in defense of its land and independence," he said.
