US pressures fostering greater convergence among Islamic nations: Iran's Pezeshkian
Tehran - BORNA - During a meeting with Pakistan's Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Monday afternoon, Pezeshkian expressed satisfaction with the growing relations between Tehran and Islamabad. He emphasized the necessity of strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, energy, tourism, investment, and cultural and scientific exchanges.
Pointing to the significant enhancement of ties between the two neighbors, the president noted: "We are pleased that you are continuously pursuing the trend of bilateral cooperation, and we hope these interactions will continue with greater seriousness in all fields."
"We believe that US actions and pressures have paved the way for increased convergence and continuous interaction among Islamic countries, and the frequent meetings and consultations between Iranian and Pakistani delegations serve as a clear example of this trend," Pezeshkian stated.
Underscoring the importance of bolstering joint investments and expanding connections between different sectors, he added: "We hope that by developing joint investments, expanding communications, and facilitating economic cooperation, we will witness the further deepening of relations between Iran and Pakistan."
Pezeshkian also highlighted the vast potential of both nations. "Iran and Pakistan are powerful countries in the region, possessing immense human capacities and rich resources. If we align these capacities and join hands, we can meet many of our needs by relying on domestic and regional capabilities," he noted.
For his part, Pakistan's interior minister expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and underscored the importance of elevating bilateral relations.
"We believe that the relations between Iran and Pakistan have never been at such a high level as we are witnessing today," Naqvi said.
He reaffirmed Islamabad's determination to further develop and upgrade cooperation with Tehran across all areas, including trade, economy, tourism, politics, culture, and science.
During the meeting, Naqvi also provided a briefing on the latest status of interactions between Iran and Pakistan in various sectors and reiterated the Pakistani government's readiness to sustain and strengthen these bilateral partnerships.
