IRGC Navy intercepts second US underwater drone in Strait of Hormuz

Tehran - BORNA - According to the statement, naval units carried out a coordinated, multi-layered electronic warfare and intelligence operation to interdict the American reconnaissance sub-surface craft, which was conducting espionage activities inside the strategic waterway.

The IRGC Navy identified the captured vessel as a "Remus 600," an advanced autonomous underwater vehicle. The statement confirmed that the drone was seized intact and transferred to defense specialists for intelligence recovery and technical data extraction.

Opening with Verse 21 of Surah Al-Fath from the Holy Quran, the statement also underscored Tehran’s ongoing enforcement of maritime transit restrictions in the waterway.

"The IRGC Navy firmly declares that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, and we are confronting dangerous maneuvers and unauthorized transit through the Strait of Hormuz resolutely and without pause," the statement concluded.
