Iran dismisses UAE’s ‘baseless’ claims over three Persian Gulf islands
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has rejected the United Arab Emirates’ repeated claims over three Iranian islands at the UN General Assembly, emphasizing that reiterating such allegations will not alter historical and legal realities.
Tehran - BORNA - In a post on the social media platform X, Gharibabadi stated: "Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb are an inseparable part of Iran's territory, and the repeated raising of baseless claims regarding sovereignty over these islands will not change this reality."
The senior Iranian diplomat urged Emirati officials to adhere to the requirements of good neighborliness and acknowledge the region's historical and legal facts instead of repeating unfounded claims.
He further noted that relations among regional countries must be pursued based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and strict observance of international law and principles.
