Iran volleyball team beats South Korea, reaches Asian Games semifinals
Tehran - BORNA - The two teams faced off at the Okazaki stadium, where Iran edged past its East Asian rival 3-2 to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
Iran claimed the first and fourth sets, while South Korea took the second and third, pushing the tight contest to a decisive tiebreaker. Roberto Piazza's squad ultimately overpowered their opponents in the final set, winning the match with scores of 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-20, and 15-12.
Iran’s starting lineup for the match featured Ali Haghparast, Arshia Behnezhad, Ali Hajipour, Mohammad Valizadeh, Seyyed Isa Naseri, Pouria Hossein Khanzadeh, and Hossein Hajikalateh.
The Iranian squad had previously completed the group stage with three consecutive victories over Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
Iran is now scheduled to take on Pakistan in the semifinals tomorrow at 1:50 p.m. Tehran time.
