Iran finishes runner-up in Greco-Roman wrestling at Asian Games

Iran's national Greco-Roman wrestling team has finished as the runner-up at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, securing two gold medals and one bronze.

Tehran - BORNA - Having claimed the team title in the previous two consecutive editions of the Asian Games, the Iranian squad took second place in this year's tournament.

​Alireza Abdevali clinched gold in the 77kg division, while world and Olympic medalist Amin Mirzazadeh secured the gold medal in the 130kg heavyweight class. Mehdi Bali added to Iran's tally by earning a bronze medal in the 97kg category.

​Host nation Japan won the Greco-Roman team championship, securing two gold, two silver, and one bronze medals.

​In the previous edition of the Games, Iran's Greco-Roman team had claimed two gold, two silver, and one bronze medals.
