Arian Salimi wins taekwondo gold as Iran closes Asian Games campaign with four medals
Arian Salimi won gold in the men's +80kg category at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Saturday, beating Uzbekistan's Maulonov in the final.
Tehran - BORNA - It was the Uzbek fighter's third consecutive defeat against Salimi, who had received a first-round bye before defeating Tang Hao and Jordan's Mohammad A'la to reach the final.
Salimi, the 2026 Asian champion, added the Asian Games gold to his record.
Iran's taekwondo team finished the competition with four medals: gold for Saghar Moradi and Arian Salimi, silver for Mehdi Haj Mousaei, and bronze for Fatemeh Ahmadi.
Morteza Zendedel, Yasaman Limouchi, Abolfazl Zandi, Amirsina Bakhtiari, Saina Karimi and Nahid Kiani were eliminated from the competition.
