The Director General for International Peace and Security at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Norwegian Ambassador to Tehran Paal Bjoernestad on Sunday to convey Tehran's official protest over Oslo's inaction regarding the unauthorized activities of the Starlink satellite internet network within Iranian territory.

Tehran - BORNA - During the meeting, the Iranian diplomat outlined the exploitation of the Starlink satellite system by the United States and the Zionist regime to carry out interventionist measures against Iran, officially communicating the country's protest over Norway's failure to address the unauthorized operations of this network.

Hassani-Nejad strongly criticized Norway for neglecting its responsibilities as the registering administration for the Starlink network at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

He emphasized that under rulings issued by the ITU’s Radio Regulations Board (RRB) in recent years, the Norwegian government is obligated to adopt necessary measures to prevent unauthorized transmissions by Starlink within Iranian territory. He noted that despite repeated official follow-ups by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Oslo has failed to take any effective action.

The Iranian official demanded the immediate conveyance of Tehran’s call for prompt and effective measures by the Norwegian government to halt actions violating Iran's sovereignty and national security, handing an official note of protest to the Norwegian ambassador.
