Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has announced that a technical delegation will be dispatched to Qatar to follow up on issues regarding Iranian pilots, following constructive talks with senior officials in Doha.

Tehran - BORNA - Speaking on the achievements of his visit, Momeni highlighted comprehensive and fruitful meetings with his Qatari counterpart. He noted that discussions covered bilateral cooperation, combating organized crime and drug trafficking, coast guard coordination, and broader security matters.

"It was agreed that expert-level security meetings will be held immediately after our trip, and these sessions will continue regularly," the minister stated.

Momeni reported that constructive negotiations were also held regarding trade relations and the expansion of mutual interactions. Touching upon the specific issue of Iranian pilots, he confirmed that a technical delegation will return to Doha to hold further meetings and advance the process.

Reaffirming Tehran's strategic priorities, Momeni emphasized that focusing on neighboring and regional countries remains the definitive foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Addressing visa facilitation between the two nations, the minister noted that favorable assistance was pledged, with expert committees set to implement the agreements under a specific timeline. He also welcomed the Qatari side's positive reception of the quality of Iranian products, expressing hope for further commercial expansion alongside political, cultural, and security relations.

Highlighting regional developments, Momeni praised Qatar's fair and mediating role in the region, alongside Pakistan. "We hope these discussions will lead to de-escalation, distance the shadow of war from the region, and establish comprehensive calm," he said.

Concluding his remarks, the minister stressed that regional security is an indivisible whole that must be generated from within, emphasizing that the countries of the region must interact with one another to ensure and maintain their own security.
