US fuel prices, not empty tweets, dictate Strait of Hormuz status: Senior MP
Tehran - BORNA - Speaking during a virtual open parliamentary session on Tuesday, Ali Nikzad described the US president's threats as desperate and illusory, intended merely for domestic electoral consumption rather than holding any operational value.
"It is natural that when a so-called superpower tastes the bitter flavor of defeat against the iron will of the great Iranian nation, it tries to deny this scandalous failure through media manipulation and threats. But realities are determined on the ground, not by rhetoric," Nikzad stated.
Addressing the US leadership directly, the senior lawmaker highlighted America's military blunders in the region. "You intended to make Iraq the 51st US state, but with humiliation, 10,000 dead, and 31,000 wounded, you were forced to leave a powerful Iraq," he said.
"The open or closed status of the Strait of Hormuz is indicated by fuel price displays in America, not the empty tweets of the US president," Nikzad stressed.
He emphasized that the Iranian nation has chosen to live independently and stands firmly by its decision, advising Washington to accept reality and bow to the will of the Iranian people.
The Islamic Republic, backed by its powerful armed forces and devoted citizens, is fully prepared to deliver a "stronger, more crushing, and more severe" response to any new adventurism, making it a historical lesson for aggressors, the deputy speaker warned.
In a direct message to neighboring countries, Nikzad urged regional states to regulate their historical ties with Iran independently of Western threats or bribery.
"Foreign powers sell you dreams, take the payment in cash, but deliver no goods," he cautioned, adding that sustainable security and a thriving economy in West Asia can only be achieved through joint regional cooperation.
Earlier in his address, the deputy speaker also commemorated Law Enforcement Week, praising the sacrifices and efforts of the country's police forces and border guards in maintaining internal security and order.
