Iran, India can draft long-term strategic cooperation roadmap: Pezeshkian
Tehran - BORNA - Pezeshkian made the remarks during a formal ceremony to receive the credentials of the new Indian Ambassador to Iran, Vishesh Negi.
Highlighting the deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries, the president stressed the necessity of swiftly implementing the agreements reached during his recent visit to India.
"During this trip, extensive and constructive discussions were held with high-ranking Indian officials, and excellent understandings were formed which I have insisted must enter the operational phase as soon as possible," Pezeshkian stated.
The president also pointed to mutual cooperation within the BRICS group, urging serious pursuit of economic partnerships and the strengthening of multilateralism.
Referring to the Indian Prime Minister's emphasis on convening the joint economic commission, Pezeshkian stated that the commission should meet promptly to explore diverse avenues for expanding trade, economic, and financial cooperation.
"I believe that within the framework of the joint economic commission, we can lay the foundation for a strategic and long-term cooperation roadmap between Iran and India," he noted, adding that defining specific executive mechanisms will help realize the full potential of bilateral ties.
Pezeshkian concluded by emphasizing the critical role of diplomatic missions and ambassadors in facilitating interactions and activating cooperation capacities.
For his part, Ambassador Negi noted that Pezeshkian's recent visit to India would open a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The new envoy assured the Iranian president that his core mission would focus on deepening commercial ties, increasing the volume of trade exchanges, and maximizing the existing economic capacities between the two nations.
