The spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has asserted that the Islamic Republic will pursue its national interests with absolute authority, emphasizing that Tehran is advancing simultaneously on the paths of negotiation and resistance to secure its rights.

Tehran - BORNA -  Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Behrouz Kamalvandi stated that Iranian officials are concurrently navigating the avenues of diplomacy and steadfastness. "If the country's interests are achieved through diplomacy, all the better; if not, they will definitely be secured with power and strength on the battlefields," he noted. The AEOI spokesman stressed that enemies cannot obtain by force what they fail to achieve at the negotiating table, adding that Tehran will not bow to coercion and has made all necessary predictions to counter any threats. "At the negotiation table, what the Islamic Republic pursues is an insistence on its rights, and no one is allowed to waive these rights. As national authorities have pointed out, the path of negotiation and the path of resistance are not in contradiction with one another," he affirmed.

NPT exit and IAEA credibility

Responding to a question regarding the AEOI's contingency plans should the Iranian Parliament approve a withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Kamalvandi highlighted the legislative body's independence while sharply criticizing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "Parliament makes its own decisions and conducts the necessary reviews; what is certain is that we, as the government, act within the framework of state policies," he explained. He further lamented that despite Iran's extensive cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA has failed to fulfill its duties properly due to political pressure. "The resolutions they have issued are politically motivated and lack a sound legal basis. This approach is detrimental not only to Iran but also to the Agency itself, as it calls its credibility into question. Ultimately, these actions will even harm international mechanisms like the NPT," the spokesperson warned.

A deeply rooted, peaceful industry

Kamalvandi reiterated that the international community must recognize Iran's nuclear program as entirely peaceful, transparent, and under constant IAEA supervision, noting that numerous reports have validated Tehran's advanced yet compliant civilian program. Underscoring the resilience of the nation's nuclear infrastructure, he stated that the industry is deeply rooted in Iran and cannot be dismantled by military strikes or external blows—a reality he said the enemy has yet to grasp. The AEOI spokesman concluded by pointing to the indispensable civilian benefits of nuclear technology in sectors such as healthcare, nuclear medicine, agriculture, and energy, assuring that the Islamic Republic will vigorously continue its path of scientific and industrial progress.
