IRGC: Violating container ship carrying 2,500 containers sinks in southern Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said Wednesday that a container ship attempting to cross the unauthorized and high-risk route of the Strait of Hormuz struck a naval mine, exploded and caught fire before sinking in the southern waters of the strait.
Tehran - BORNA - In a statement, the IRGC Navy's public relations office said the vessel was carrying more than 2,500 containers when it sank on Wednesday morning.
The IRGC Navy said local vessels and fishermen should exercise maximum caution when transiting the route to avoid colliding with containers floating on the water.
